The Candidate of KEK Director General for the next term

The Search Committee for the Director General of KEK today announced that the committee has nominated Dr. Masanori Yamauchi, the present Director General, for his second term of office which will be for three years beginning on April 1, 2018.

The committee stated the reasons of the nomination as Dr. Yamauchi is: 1) a person of noble character who received high academic rating internationally as a scientist. 2) a person who has an advanced ability to coordinate relationships with persons concerned inside and outside KEK, as well as a foreseeability and a distinguished leadership to manage the organization which has many research institutes, research facilities as well as large-scale research projects. 3) a person who has a vision for the future and an ability to direct KEK to the appropriate course to establish and carry out the medium-term goal and plans.

The committee invited nominations for the next Director General from March 1, 2017 to May 31, 2017. For screening, the committee interviewed the nominated person, then discussed the candidate of the position. The committee also referred to the members of Management Council, and Education and Research Council of KEK. As a result of all the consultation and discussion, the committee made a final decision to nominate Dr. Yamauchi for the next Director General of KEK.
