Addendum to the KEK-ILC Action Plan

Japan’s High Energy Accelerator Research Organization (KEK) issued an addendum to the KEK-ILC action plan.

In 2017, the Japan Association of High Energy Physicists and the Physics and Detector Group of the Linear Collider Collaboration (LCC) proposed constructing the ILC (International Linear Collider) that would operate at 250 Giga-electron-volt (GeV) in the center of mass frame (ILC250GeV) as a Higgs factory. In November 2017, the International Committee for Future Accelerators (ICFA) issued a statement supporting the LCC and JAHEP’s proposal of ILC250GeV accelerator and encouraged the early realization of the ILC.

This addendum provides additional information about the KEK-ILC action plan issued in January 2016 in accordance with this ILC250GeV. Since 2016, a US-Japan joint research and development project to reduce the cost for the SRF cavities has been underway. In this report, we explain the latest evolution, including research and development.

This report summarizes the study made by the working group set under the Director General, on how KEK should start its preparation toward the ILC when the Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology (MEXT), decides to initiate negotiations with foreign countries.
