Dr. Song Qin-Tao at KEK IPNS Theory Center got the 3rd SOKENDAI Award

Dr. Song Qin-Tao at Department Particle and Nuclear Physics, School of High Energy Accelerator Science, The Graduate University for Advanced Studies, SOKENDAI and KEK Theory Center (at the time) got the 3rd SOKENDAI Award. The award ceremony was held after commencement on September 27, 2019. The SOKENDAI Award was founded in Academic Year 2018 to commend the students who have accomplished their outstanding research and have been conferred their degrees with the excellent doctoral thesis (cited from SOKENDAI website: https://www.soken.ac.jp/news/6385/ ).

Belle II changing of the guard with Prof. Toru Iijima as the new spokesperson.

2On June 21, 2019, Prof. Tom Browder (University of Hawaii) turned over the role of the Belle II spokesperson to Prof. Toru Iijima (Nagoya University). Prof. Browder has led the Belle II experiment since 2013 when the Belle II experiment began its upgrade, and watched over the start of the Belle II physics run (Phase3).

Undergraduate Students from the Radboud University Nijmegen visit KEK and J-PARC

2019/05/08

Twenty undergraduate and graduate students from the Radboud University Nijmegen, Netherland visited KEK and J-PARC from April 19 to 22, 2019. The Radboud University offers opportunities for undergraduate students to visit foreign research institutes every year as a part of the education program “Marie Curie Study Tours Foundation of the Radboud University in Nijmegen”. In this year, students chose to come to Japan.

The 1st “Belle II Physics Week” was held at KEK

2018/11/16

The Belle II Physics Week (Belle II Theory Interface Platform, B2TiP, Workshop) was held October 22-26, 2018 on the Tsukuba campus of KEK in the 3-go-kan seminar hall. The Physics Week continued the series of meetings previously held as part of the Belle II Theory Interface Platform series, which led to the publication of the Belle II Physics Book. This workshop was held just after the Belle II General Meeting (B2GM) which is a tri-annual plenary meeting in which a large number of Belle II members from many countries participate.

The 7th TYL Science Camp for Japanese Female Students Held at KEK Tsukuba Campus

2018/04/04

Japanese 30 female students from high schools or national colleges of technology participated in the TYL Science Camp, which was held on April 3rd - 4th at KEK Tsukuba campus. The TYL Science Camp has been organized every year since 2012 by the KEK Gender Equality Office, the TYL-FJPPL (Toshiko Yuasa Laboratory‐France-Japan Particle Physics Laboratory), Ochanomizu University and Nara Women’s University.
