The first QUP Synergy Summit (QSS) was held on 18 July at the QUP satellite in Toyota Central R&D Labs., Inc. (TCRDL).

The summit is an open forum for seeds/needs matching between QUP/KEK and industrial partners, following the WPI’s mission, ”social value of basic research.” The QSS supports the matching between academia and industry by organizing a series of topical meetings and information sharing.

The first meeting was attended by 33 participants, about half from academia and half from industry. After a kick-off talk by Dr. Takechi, Director of the QUP satellite in Toyota Central R&D Labs., both sides gave presentations on the need to understand the mechanisms of radiation-hard sensors/electronics. A second meeting will be held in a few months to explore this topic further.

QUP welcomes all companies and universities to participate in this forum. Detailed rules and regulations (in Japanese) will be available soon.
