2015 BINP-KEK Annual Cooperative Meeting held at KEK

December 25, 2015

KEK received a visit by six delegation members of Budker Institute of Nuclear Physics (BINP, Russia) including Director Dr. Pavel Logachev and former Director Dr. Alexandr Skrinskiy on December 1-2, 2015. At the BINP-KEK Annual Cooperative Meeting, Director General Dr. Masanori Yamauchi and eight KEK members welcomed the BINP delegation.

KEK has developed fruitful relationships with BINP over a long period of time, even since before concluding the first comprehensive cooperative agreement in 1995. At the meeting, the participants reported the recent progress of particle physics and accelerator projects in each laboratory. In particular, the BINP physicists were contributing to several experimental projects hosted in KEK Tsukuba and Tokai campuses such as Belle II, COMET and g-2/EDM. KEK and BINP were placing high expectations to further enforce cooperative relation in these experimental fields. Moreover, the status of cERL (KEK) and free electron laser facility (BINP) were also reported as research projects in the field of synchrotron radiation science.

At the end of the meeting, KEK and BINP signed the additional five-year extension of the KEK-BINP cooperative agreement in light of our successful relationship between the two institutions.

Delegation members of BINP visited J-PARC and observed Materials and Life Science Experimental Facility (MLF), Hadron Experimental Facility and Neutrino Experimental Facility.
