The KEK Theory Workshop 2025 was held over three days, from December 16 (Tue) to December 18 (Thu), at the Seminar Hall of KEK Building 3. Every year, the workshop focuses on a specific theme, and we select invited speakers accordingly. This year, the focus was on recent developments in topological aspects of field theory, the analysis of field theories with boundaries, attempts to describe an expanding universe using boundary field theory, the dynamics of quantum open systems, and various phenomena arising from nonlinearity and non-Hermitian effects in open systems.
A wide range of topics was interconnected through key concepts such as “topology” and “boundaries,” resulting in a highly coherent and distinctive workshop. Despite the invited speakers coming from various fields such as condensed matter physics, quantum gravity and field theory, the discussions were conducted without feeling the boundaries between the fields. This experience deepened our understanding of how profound theoretical physics is.
Many participants expressed gratitude, saying that the workshop provided an opportunity to engage in discussions they would not typically have access to. These responses indicate that the workshop was highly valuable as a forum for research exchange.
