IPNS works on cutting-edge research of particle physics and nuclear physics, and cosmology from both experimental and theoretical approaches.

We research the behavior of elementary particles and nuclei, the new particles and phenomena which we cannot explain by existing theories, why anti-matters disappeared in the present universe, and so on.

KEK Theory Center is the largest research facility for the theory of particles, nuclei, and cosmology in Japan. Various researchers are working day and night on research by collaborating closely with experimental researchers.

We are professional of “cutting-edge” because we conduct the design, machining, and assembly of one-of-a-kind machines which is used in cutting-edge research. We also take charge of development support and operation of very low temperature devices.

We carry out instrumentation technology development together with researchers from wide range of fields by stimulating interdisciplinary interactions and making full use of newly built test beam line.
