The 3rd QUP Synergy Summit (QSS3) was held on Thursday, May 23, 2024, at QUP satellite in Toyota Central R&D Labs. QSS is a framework for matching the seeds of basic science and the needs of industry to realize collaboration between them.

This summit began with a greeting from Dr. Masashi Hazumi, Director of QUP. It was followed by a reminder of the purpose of the QSS and the progress report since the first meeting, especially on the studies about soft errors caused by cosmic rays. A special lecture session followed, where QUP scientists Drs. Hiroki Akamatsu, Kaori Hattori, and Masaya Hasegawa gave talks on various applications of superconducting transition edge sensors in QUP. These sensors have excellent energy resolution for photons over a wide energy range from microwaves to X-rays.

At the next meeting, we will continue the discussion on the needs from industry.
