The Indian Science and Technology Minister and the Ambassador of India visited KEK for 5 year extension of the Indian Beamline agreement

H.E. Dr. Harsh Vardhan, Hon'ble Union Minister for Science and Technology and Earth Science along with H.E. Smt. Deepa Gopalan Wadhwa, the Ambassador of India, Japan visited KEK on November 4, 2015. After a meeting with Dr. Masaharu Nomura, Executive Director of KEK and other executives to discuss ongoing cooperative activities in synchrotron radiation science and accelerator science, the signing ceremony for the five year extension of the Indian Beamline agreement was held in witness of Hon'ble Minister.

The Indian Beamline was set up by Department of Science and Technology (DST), India in KEK Photon Factory based on the Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) originally signed by DST and KEK in 2008. The beamline has been successfully operated since 2011 and utilized for pursuing the fundamental research as well as fostering Indian young researchers.

After the signing ceremony, the Indian delegation took a tour of KEK Photon Factory. Dr. Nomura and the Indian researchers showed the experimental apparatuses installed by India and briefed the next 5 year plan of the Indian Beamline.
