Mr. Akihiro Toyoda, Engineer of Radiation Science Center, Received 2021 KEK Technology Award

The subject of the award is "Development of Management System for Radioactivated Materials in Accelerator facility.”
It was appreciated highly that Mr. Toyoda has developed the unique management system of radioactive materials with his ideas such as a method to evaluate nuclides and their radioactivity for registration on the safe side based on dose rate with a survey meter, it’s material and weight, and, a device of the handheld terminal, bar code and picture to register it on site.
In addition, since the handling of radioactive materials was incorporated into laws and regulations, Mr. Toyoda has considered practical management methods while assuring safety, developed and realized the system for efficient management of radioactivated materials, and accumulated experience in the operation of the management system over eight years in a situation where there are no other examples to refer to. The before mentioned contributions of Mr. Toyoda were evaluated to be "inventions, developments or improvements that are particularly useful in the operation of KEK".
