Dr. Eisuke Watanabe, Assistant Professor of Radiation Science Center, received Young Scientist Presentation Award (Poster) at the 68th Annual Meeting of the Japan Society of Nuclear and Radiochemical Sciences (2024)

Dr. Eisuke Watanabe, Assistant Professor of Radiation Science Center, received the Best Presentation Award (Poster) for Young Scientists at the 68th Annual Meeting of the Japan Society of Nuclear and Radiochemical Sciences (2024) held at Shizuoka from September 23 to 25. The awarded presentation title was “Radiomercury produced during beam operation at J-PARC Neutrino Experimental Facility”.
This report presented an evaluation on the production mechanism of radiomercury at J-PARC Neutrino Experimental Facility. Radiomercury isotopes with wide mass distribution were measured by collecting with activated carbon cartridge, and the origin of the radiomercury production was discussed on the basis of experimental results and model calculations with radiation transportation calculation code PHITS.
