Mr. Masaki Ishida, Associate Engineer of Radiation Science Center, received the Annual Meeting Award (Poster Presentation) at the 19th Annual Meeting of the Particle Accelerator Society of Japan held online from October 18 to 21. The award-winning presentation was entitled "Chemical evaluation of foreign substance found in accelerator coolant systems"

This presentation summarizes the results of chemical analysis of foreign substances and cooling water that have been found to be generated and deposited in the accelerator cooling water system to understand the corrosion mechanism in accelerator coolant water. The authors presented a method for quantitative evaluation of differences in the appearance of foreign substances and a consideration of corrosion mechanism in the cooling water system by organizing the foreign substances by the location where they were found.
