In Slow Positron Facility(SPF) at Institute of Materials Structure Science (IMSS), energy-variable monochromatic positron beams(slow positron beams) are generated from positrons produced by a dedicated linear accelerator, and researches in solid-state surface physics and atomic and molecular physics are being conducted by using the slow positron beams. While the Accelerator Laboratory is in charge of the linear accelerator, the SPF at IMSS is in charge of the positron source, beamlines, and experimental stations, and conducts the operation, maintenance, and joint usage of the facility, as well as the development and upgrade of novel experimental techniques.

The successful candidate belongs to SPF at IMSS, and is expected to play a pivotal role in the management of the facility in close collaboration not only within IMSS but also with Accelerator Laboratory and domestic and international positron community, and to lead pioneering research in materials science, taking advantage of the slow positron beams such as surface sensitivity with a view to the cooperation with quantum beams such as synchrotron radiation, neutrons, and muons, and human resource development. In addition, they will promote the future plan of the facility.
