IMSS20-6-E

The Institute of Materials Structure Science (IMSS) restructured its organization to strengthen both research and facility functions on April 1st, 2019. The candidate (full professor) will belong to the Photon Factory (PF). He/she is expected to be the leader of the vacuum team of the beamline engineering section.

The IMSS is now designing the upgrade of the storage ring at the SR facility. In order to take the advantage of this upgrade effectively, the beamline vacuum system is one of the most important technical elements. Unified management of the beamline vacuum system is also important for the stable operation of the high-brilliance synchrotron beam, because many and various kinds of vacuum system are used at the beamlines and affect the beam stability and the precise control of the beam. The successful candidate, as the leader of the vacuum team, will develop, update and manage the beamline vacuum system, in cooperation with the light-source-accelerator (KEK ACCL 6th) division staffs, as well as beamline scientists and engineers. He/she is also expected to enhance domestic and international collaboration with other SR facilities for R&D of the beamline vacuum system.
