IMSS23-4-E

The successful candidate will belong to the beamline engineering section of Photon Factory (PF, SR facility). The section at the PF consists of 8 teams of experts, and the candidate will play a pivotal role in the development of new measurement methods utilizing X-ray optics and the application to materials structure science in the "X-ray Optics Technology Team".

This section promotes the upgrade, development and standardization of the beamline transport channels that guides synchrotron radiation to experimental stations. X-ray optics is indispensable as a fundamental elemental technology for synchrotron radiation beamlines. Currently, the PF is considering the Hybrid Light Source (HLS) as a next facility plan. The HLS can not only promote conventional synchrotron radiation user experiments but also develop a new type of user experiment by simultaneous use of two synchrotron radiation beams and/or by wide wavelength range use. In order to realize these next-generation experiments, it is essential to develop the beamline measurement technology using X-ray optics.

The successful candidate will develop, update and manage the X-ray beamline based on X-ray optics, in cooperation with the KEK ACCL. 6th (light-source-accelerator) division staffs, as well as beamline scientists and engineers. The candidate will also actively engage in technical collaboration with the other synchrotron facilities, and lead the development of the beamline measurement technology using X-ray optics and the training of next leaders in the field.
