The successful candidate will belong to the Beamline Engineering Section of Photon Factory (PF, SR facility), and as head of the section, will supervise 8 teams of experts to lead research and development of key technologies for stable supply and high performance of SR beams. In addition, the candidate will promote human resources development for the future in the SR field.

This section promotes the upgrade, development and standardization of the beamline transport channels that guide synchrotron radiation to experimental stations. The PF is now planning the upgrade of the PF and PF-AR rings, and is considering the next SR facility. In order to carry out this upgrade and next SR facility project effectively and steadily, improvements of stability and precision of the beamlines in temporal and spatial domains are essential and urgent. The relevant technological areas are diverse, including, for example, VUV and soft/hard X-ray optics, beamline vacuum, beamline control, detectors, and infrastructures. The candidate is expected to take a leading role in developing instrumentations common to PF beamlines, in cooperation with the light-source-accelerator (KEK ACCL 6th) division staffs, as well as beamline scientists and engineers. The candidate is also expected to enhance domestic and international collaboration with other quantum beam facilities for R&D.
