This section promotes the research and development of the beamline transport channels that guide synchrotron radiation to experimental stations. Currently, with a view to the future plan of the facility, experiments and research using simultaneous multiple quantum beams are being proposed at the PF, and demonstration experiments are underway. The beamline technologies required to carry out such advanced experiments and research encompass a wide range of fields, including, for example, vacuum ultraviolet (VUV) and soft/hard X-ray optics, beamline vacuum, beamline control, detectors, and infrastructures. It is necessary not only to develop and enhance each of these technological elements but also to ensure they function collaboratively. On the other hand, standardization of the cutting-edge experimental and measurement technologies is also essential for the advancement of the SR science field.

The candidate is expected to pioneer new research in synchrotron radiation science by developing advanced, high-precision X-ray optical technologies and promoting experiments utilizing multi-beams and multiple quantum beams, in cooperation with the beamline scientists and engineers of the PF as well as the staff of Division VI (responsible for the SR light source) of KEK Accelerator Laboratory. Applications are welcome not only from those with prior experience and knowledge in X-ray optics but also from those without such a background who are highly motivated to actively engage in the research and development of X-ray optical technologies.
